Help For Pregnant Women

One of the biggest concerns we hear from women facing unplanned pregnancies is that they won’t be able to handle everything on their own. In reality, there are lots of programs available from the State of Ohio to help them should they continue their pregnancy. One program helps with obtaining free or low-cost health coverage. Other services can help women throughout their pregnancies as well as help their children have a happy and healthy start.

Healthy Start and Healthy Families

This programs offers free or low-cost health coverage for families and pregnant women. Coverage includes doctor visits, hospital care, pregnancy-related services, prescriptions, mental health services, and more. Women, Infants, & Children (WIC)

This program provides nutritious foods, nutrition information and breastfeeding education and support. To be eligible you must be a woman who is pregnant or breastfeeding or have a baby less than six months old. Children from birth to age 5 also qualify. There are WIC income and medical or nutritional risk guidelines that you must meet. To apply, visit your local WIC clinic. The WIC offices in the Toledo area are located at:

Help Me Grow

The Help Me Grow Home Visiting Program offers parenting education for pregnant women and first-time moms. This program also helps families with young children connect with resources so that children start school healthy and ready to learn. Contact Help Me Grow at 419-725-7194.
